9 finalists choose the PYME Prize Carlos Vial Espantoso 2012

They were pre-selected from among 178 companies to receive this recognition that the Foundation delivers for the first time. The winning companies will be announced next November 20th.

La Tercera Newspaper - 23/10/2012 - Today, the 10 finalist companies were shortlisted to receive the Carlos Vial Espantoso Año 2012 SME Award, recognition given by the Foundation for the first time to small and medium enterprises that apply innovative practices and initiatives to build working relationships of collaboration and trust, thus building the development of their workers and their families. La Tercera Newspaper - 23/10/2012 - Today, the 10 finalist companies were shortlisted to receive the Carlos Vial Espantoso Año 2012 SME Award, recognition given by the Foundation for the first time to small and medium enterprises that apply innovative practices and initiatives to build working relationships of collaboration and trust, thus building the development of their workers and their families.

Seven companies are from the Metropolitan Region and eight correspond to Regions I, V, VII and VIII. The ten small companies are: Agrícola Los Portones (San Felipe); Agricultural Funghi Chile; Kraown nails; Contreras Hnos. Electrical Engineering (San Felipe); Ecotecnica Ltda; Social management; LMV Engineering and Construction; Sergio Godoy and Sr. Ltda (Arica); R & T Environment (Los Vilos); and Swisslog. Meanwhile, the five medium-sized companies are: Agro Entre Ríos (Linares); Condensa (Arica); Engineering and Electrical Construction Sinec; Sermasil Forest Services (Chillán); and Sociedad Maquinarias Olmué (La Serena).

The president of the SME Commission of the Carlos Vial Espantoso Foundation, Guillermo Agüero, highlighted that 178 companies applied for this recognition, of which 105 were visited in the field and evaluated with a methodology developed by the Carlos Vial Espantoso Foundation together with the School of Administration of the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile (PUC), by a jury composed of 18 experts who are aware of the reality of SMEs.

"For us it is a real success the level of convocation that has had this recognition, where the small and medium company undergoes a rigorous process of analysis, demonstrating that it has tools and a significant weight in the social and labor universe of the country. They deserve to be recognized for their multiple and varied practices of relationships that occur in their midst. "

In the coming weeks the jury will carry out an in-depth evaluation of the finalist companies, which will be in charge of the professor of the School of Administration of the PUC, Carlos Portales. Meanwhile, the name of the companies -small and medium- that will receive the SME Award Carlos Vial Espantoso 2012 will be announced on November 20 next.

The jury in charge of granting this recognition is composed of: Guillermo Agüero, Director Carlos Vial Espantoso Foundation; Juan Araya, President CONAPYME; Teresa Celedón, President of Mujeres Empresarias de Magallanes; Felix de Vicente, Director Pro Chile; Marco Antonio González, COPESA Secretary General; Isabella Jaras, Founder, Manager of Production and Development of Nutrabien Chile; Luis Andrés Maturana, President of ASIGAR Chile; Julie McPherson, Executive Director Endeavor Chile; Andrés Ovalle, President of the UC SME Management Program; Horacio Pavéz, President of the Emprender Foundation; Nelson Pizarro, Director of companies; Julio Ramírez, General Manager of Ultramar Chile; Sandro Solari, President Circle of ICARE Persons; Cristóbal Undurraga, Executive Director of Innova Chile; José Luis Uriarte, National Director SERCOTEC; Carlos Vial, Businessman; Hermann von Mühlenbrock, President of FUNDES; and Antonio Walker, Agricultural Entrepreneur.
